Our Successes

In May, during SATs, all of our children performed exceptionally well.  100% of our Y6 children scored at or above age related expectations in Maths,  Reading and Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling, with many achieving very high scores.  Four children were assessed as reading at a higher level than expected; 2 children were working at a higher level in Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling and one in Maths.   This is despite a new testing and assessment regime that is far more challenging than previously, and we are very proud of each of our pupils.

This year, following our Parent Survey, we have increased the number of visits and trips the children take part in to broaden their learning and further increase their enjoyment of the curriculum.  We have visited the British Museum, Colchester Zoo, West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village, Danbury Outdoor Centre and have attended 2 music festivals and a Consortium Sports Day.  We have had visits from art solutions, the Bug Man and Nite Owls.  KS2 children have all learned to play the ukulele!

The work of our PTA has been a huge success this year, with a fabulous Christmas Fete, Promise Auction and  Camping Weekend standing out as real highlights of the year.

In addition to this, we have begun to work on reinstating our school swimming pool, and a committed and enthusiastic committee is busy getting planning permission and local support.

Last year, we increased the number of after school clubs we run, with at least one club after school each day and one at lunchtime each day and this is continuing into next year.

This year, pupils have raised funds for Children in Need, St Helena's Hospice, Sports Relief, Christian Aid Big Brekkie and Colchester Foodbank.
