Developing Our Vision With Parents

Great Tey Primary School community is currently working together to agree our school Vision.  Once agreed, this will underpin our work in school, both in terms of the classroom and playground, but also in terms of the school's links with its community and the wider world.

So far we have -

1.  Surveyed parents about what is important to them in their child's school.  Parents identified -

- children feeling cared for and safe

- children feeling valued as individuals

- children developing life-long learning skills

- children's individual needs are supported and valued

2. Parents also identified the Bible Verse that most resonated with their vision for the school -

In everything do to others as you would have them do to you  Matthew 7:12 (58%)

Learning from Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, to work diligently, act generously and live at peace with everyone Psalm 34:14  (20%)

Give all your worries to me because I care for you  1 Peter 5:7 (16%)

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go, I will counsel you with my loving eye on you    Psalm 32:8  (7%)

Love the Lord God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength  Luke 25:10 (0%)

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you     Matthew 6:33  (0%)

3. Finally, parents selected the most important of our 12 values, which we will work towards incorporating into our vision:

Honesty

Friendship

Perseverance

Respect

Compassion

 4.  Our vision is now displayed at the top of each newsletter and we tell parents about the impact of our vision, particularly in terms of Agents of Change but also through celebrating pupils' academic, spiritual and social development through Golden Book assemblies each week.  Our vision, and some of the Bible stories we have looked at as part of our work on our vision, are displayed in the entrance foyer, in the main hall and in the Headteacher's office.  The vision itself is displayed in each classroom.
